I had trouble cancelling. I used and was happy with their service for a year. But when I tried to cancel, they ignored my emails and calls. Then finally sent an email saying I was cancelled. Then, surprise, another month's fee is taken out of my checking account.
When I call to complain about that, they say I actually owed more!
Hey, it's only $6.95, but it's the principle of the thing. If they take an extra month from everyone cancelling, that really adds up.

They sent me a notice saying that they were disconnecting me for non payment on a credit card that is good. I called them and then gave them the same credit card and then they disconnected me without saying anything else a couple of hours later. Note that this is not acceptable no discussion nothing. Will be looking for a new provider and will complain to credit card company and stop payment for lack of service.

Diconnects a lot.When you call customer service they are not any help! still wanting on an
email answer after 3 emails.

Stay away, Mailaka are dishonest!
The same thing that happened to maparus@ispwest.com happened to me too. I cancelled, bot h by phone (as Chan in billing advised me) and also by e-mail , Mailaka charged me anyway and are refusing to give me my money back. Chan in billing displayed a terrible attitude and lied that she did not receive numerous e-mail s that I sent to confirm cancellation. President David Allen is ignoring my repeated requests for refund, even though I provided him with evidence that I cancelled in time to avoid charges.
Again, stay away, Mailaka are dishonest!

Today May 26,2005 Mailaka.net finally credited my account thank to the effort of Jason who with the tech support company that Mailaka has hired to handel their support. Jason did in two days what even the president of Mailaka could not or would not do in over a month. Thanks again to Jason. And now after reading all my previous posts to ISP RANK I ask you is this the kind of company you would trust to handel your ISP needs? I think not. Thanks also to ISP RANK for allowing ISP 's like Mailaka.net to be exposed

IF ANYONE CANCELS MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT YOUR BANK TO MAKE SURE THEY CAN NO LONGER CHARGE YOUR ACCOUNT!!!
Please find attached a letter from my bank plus my bank account statement showing my account was never credited. My bank said if you need a hard copy to let me know. Contact De K. H PNC Bank 812-***-****. I hope this ends this matter. Please credit asap before a check bounce s and penelities become involved

You responce was (see below) It would take 7 to 10 working days for it to be deposited that would make it May 10 to the 13th. and as you can see there has been no deposits to my account. How could you have credited my accounton the 22nd of April when Chan didn't even know about the problem until the 3rd of May? I would like to have the phone number of a superviser to clear up this problem

Today is the 20th of May and I have not recieved a credit for the $9.95 you illegally removed from my account after I canceled. What is the problem? Please take care of this matter ASAP!!

I star ted with this service 2 years ago and it was great. Stared off with 5 phone connections for area code 502. But they kept dropping the fastest connections. Now I'm down to only two connections and they are slow. I'm star ting to look elseware.

While this service star ted out to be reliable with good technical support since they have grown their customer support has become unacceptable. The techs are rude and un-helpful. Save yourself the abuse and go to someone else.

Great service, reliable connects, incredible value. Only three relatively minor issues with them. 1) Occasional routing problems that temporarily prevent you from getting to certain site s/servers; 2) Forcibly drops your connection after 4 hours, even if you are actively using it. Major pain during long download s; and 3) Blocks access to any SMTP server s but their own. This prevents you from accessing your own or your company's private/secure SMTP server s for outgoing mail.

So you get 325 hrs.a month. That is plenty! That is 10 hours a day - consider if you work 8 - 5, and use the internet from 6 till 11, that is only 5 hours and then you are in bed! If you work on the internet on weekends, well you should not be working 10 hours a day anyways! It is great, have no problems, just make sure you have double month amount in bank - sometimes they take it out earlier and you are charged twice in one month.

Nice people, great customer service! BUT READ THE FINE PRINT: http ://www.mailaka.net/use.php
Unlimited does NOT mean unlimited for $6.95 you get 325 hours per month. While thats fine for some people and a fair amount of time for the price, IT IS NOT MY DEFINITION OF UNLIMITED and mailaka could be a lot more up-front about informing their users of this policy!
